Lers record of the week: Michael Jackson-Thriller: Before he became the recluse as everyone know as Wacko Jacko, Michael Jackson had the world at his fingertips. The Gloved One had a knack for making magic out of the simplest of songs and dazzled me with his out-of-this-world dance moves. This album, released 25 years ago is still a classic no matter which generation you're part of. It's a welcomed trip down memory lane. For others who deny, this album is proof that Michael wasnt always a nutcase who liked hanging babies over balconies. He actually had real talent.
Lers movie of the week: Gone Baby Gone- Hey Ben(Affleck), remember the horrible film that was Gigli?? Thankfully, the actor redeems himself with a brilliant directorial debut this time round. Intriguing and compelling, he paints a morally ambiguous picture of the Boston underbelly and skillfully surprises me with the script's many twists and turns. This Oscar nominated drama looks at Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan, a couple of private investigators who just happen to be dating, as they go in search of a missing 4years old. However, they soon discover that not all is what it seems and their relationship and values get put to the test. Sadly, little publicity was done for the film. It can be a tad slow moving at times and it's definitely not a cheery or happy movie. Still, it's an excellent film.
Lers classic movie of all time: BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN (2005), starring Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway-Brokeback Mountain is a sweeping epic that explores the lives of 2 young cowboys who meet in the summer of 1963 and unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection. The complications, joys and heartbreaks they experience provide a testament to the endurance and power of love. This highly feted film changed the cinematic landscape as Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal delivered some of the most emotional and moving performances ever captured on film--it's destined to become one of the great classics. This movie won 3 Oscars, 76 non-Oscar film awards and many more nominations, but it may not be for everyone. If you are willing to open ur heart and mind to let in its beauty and emotions, you will not be disappointed.

lers mood for the week: slightly better than week 11. Due to the heavy loads of work i can drift the attention away from my problems,i knew it wont be for long but at least it does ease me a little....most still treat me like the normal stanley, handful of them try to find out from others what happen to me,only a finger-three;relately concern and ask me what had happened?? Things are not under my control, i want to thks those who showed their concern for me during this period, you guys are gracefully loved...
lers movie of the week-THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES follows the adventures of the Grace siblings who move into an old Victorian mansion upon their parents divorce. When angsty young Jared(by Freddie Highmore) stumbles on a forbidden book, the kids are surprised to discover a world full of goblins, fairies and woodland creatures.Honestly, after watching this,i bet that everyone will want a cute Hobgoblin of their own. I also loved the attention to minor details(read:flower fairies float) and the rules that the director set in the fantasy realm. Freddie Highmore also shines in his dual role as the Grace twins,Jared and Simon, and looks set to be the next young Brit idol in the making. An entertaining and wonderfully illustrated movie for the whole family.
lers record of the week: JAMIE T-PANIC PREVENTION: Let Jamie T shake us down with some crusty rhymes and good old cockney humour. While most singer/songwriters bother themselves with drudgery and sadness. Jamie T has got on with his life and made himself a cup of tea while watching comedy reruns. But i love him for it. He has a distinct sound that shuffles between crusty British rap and catchy hook-laden hip pop. It's seriously difficult to describe. I recommend everyone to listen instead. This Mercury Prize-nominated album is seriously a likeable work of art and a feisty little critter.
lers all time favourite: JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE-FUTURESEX/LOVESOUNDS: What's incredible abt this album is how unfamiliar it sounds. It's a pulsating entity completely out of touch with radio popular,as though he's adamant abt destroying what i know abt top 40 tunes. You guys gonna be disappointed if you're expecting back-to-front R&B numbers(although there're a couple here) Now i know actual singing is not his strong suit, but Justin's thing,if u dont know it yet,is abt unravelling the groove. This prince of nu-cool has enough Michael Jackson harmonies,hand-claps and human beat-boxing to soothe the harshest of critics. Ever the shrewd popster,Justin masks much of his so-so vocals behind the magical pop-grind of Timberland's steely production, pulling vocoders,80s electro riffs, and other tricks into the bag. 1st single 'Sexy Back' for example,is a mind-melt with its looping chorus and dirty funk, but its more addictive than Chicken in a Biskit. This is terribly fun brainwashing.
lers craving for the week: Dim Sum LerLer
lers dreamgal part 2: SCARLETT JOHANSSON-PORTRAIT OF A RISING STAR: The book runs thru Scarlett's impressive body of work(and i'm not just talking abt her physical attributes) in incredible detail. Like did u know, she first got bitten by the acting bug when she landed a role in the movie North at the tender age of ten? And i bet u didnt know she had a stint in Home Alone 3!!! I guess someone has to start somewhere before landing roles in acclaimed movies like The Horse Whisperer and Lost in Translation. While the book also offers an intensive look at her filmography,it falls short details abt her personal life. A little more goss on her love connection with The Black Dahlia co-star Josh Hartnett wouldnt hurt one bit. Or how abt that infamous kissing scenes in Justin Timberlake 'What Goes Around'.
Dinner and a movie can drain our allowance, but resourceful daters can still have a stellar time. Here are some inexpensive ways to release your inner Cupid....
Unless it’s the day of your best friend’s wedding, your white shirt shouldn’t be starched. Instead, wear a washed one (sleeves rolled up) with a plaid or checked tie, black cotton pants, and—if you’re jaunty enough to pull it off—a straw fedora.
Marky Ramone may prefer his black jeans beat-up, but if you’re wearing a sweater vest, the denim should be equally refined. Start with an inky fade- and whisker-free pair and add an immaculate white T-shirt and sneakers.
Substituting black for navy prevents a sailor-inspired outfit from looking like a costume. Pair a white V-neck sweater that has thin black stripes with coal-colored jeans and a cropped cardigan in the same shade of black.
Wearing white from head to toe is usually best left to those serving daiquiris poolside. But you can adapt the look for casual outdoor occasions by adding flashes of black—like a watch or the trim of a henley—in unexpected places.
To make white jeans work for a night out, the rest of what you put on should be simple but substantial—a black crewneck sweater in lightweight cashmere and a slim-fitting field jacket, for example. Skip the sneakers in favor of shiny black brogues.
How can anyone miss him?? Afterall he still look like wang leehom right?? I guess most taiwanese are just walking either with their head-down or their eyes shut. Those calender pictures below are the transformation of him.He look so emo and i can see the tiredness in his eyes, btw out of those 4,which one u guys think is the nicest?( i know i'm missing sept-dec and i couldnt find it anywhere, any kind soul out there to help me search?)
lers mood for the week:moderate self-control freak !!!! I believe i'm trying too hard to hold my emotions;i'm utterly losing myself in the dark...the numerous night of loneliness and soul-healing was never in my life that i would expect it to happen...What should i do next?? I'm contrasting myself within my own world, the question is,would i allow anyone to enter the world of mine??
lers-record of the week:YAEL NAIM-YAEL NAIM self-titled album:You may have already heard this French-born,Israeli-bred singer-songwriter in the commercial for Mac's new ultrathin air notebook, where her delightful ditty"New Soul" provides appropriately light and breezy accompaniment.(In a nice bit of synergy, the single has already hit No.1 on the iTunes chart) Naim displays more of that gentle, nimble touch on the rest of her exotic U.S.debut,whether she's singing in English or Hebrew,or channeling Joni Mitchell or Sarah McLachlan.
lers-movie of the week:KITE RUNNER-An emotional tale of friendship, family, devastating mistakes and redeeming love by Golden Globe nominated director Marc Foster,The Kite Runner is based the novel by Khaled Hosseini. It reveals Foster's love for films with complex emotional relationships similar to Finding Neverland and Stranger Than Fiction. But this time he portrays a mix of international actors giving justice to the story of Amir,a wealthy boy from Kabul in a divided country on the verge of war,who on a joyous day of flying kites is separated from his childhood friend,Hassan. Amir, living with the guilt of betraying his best friend, eventually departs to live in the U.S. Two decades later,he returns to rectify his mistake in Afghanistan, only to find out the crumbling Afghan monarchy and horrifyingly strict Taliban regime.
lers-classic movie of all time:FORREST GUMP(1994),starring Tom Hanks,Robin Wright Penn and Sally Field-Based on the 1986 novel by Winston Groom, the film follows the life of a somewhat mentally challenged man from Alabama,Forrest Gump. He accomplishes many great things throughout his life and was coincidentally present during significant historic events such as a meeting with Elvis Presley,JFK and Richard Nixon--far exceeding what anyone imagined he was capable of.Yet,despite all the fame fortune and glory,he struggles with his one true love,Jenny. Although he shows that determination, courage and love are important,he proves that you don't have to be a genius to inspire or become successful. After all, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." The film garnered a total of six Oscars, another 32 awards and numerous other nominations.
lers-craving for the week:SUSHI
lers-dreamgal's figured: PENNY DAI-i think she look gorgeous;and she got a bit of asian Scarlett Johansson feel...she has thick lips too;a more define shaped one, unlike jolin's one look like she suffer from 'lips-burn'....I had been listening to penny's past composition,is a style of whether u like it or hate it....She will be newly crowned as my Queen..
Does he look familiar?? yes he's the lead actor for step up2 the street...his name is robert hoffman. In fact he has got his own website, there are many videos that he made for himself.
Ler's mood for the week: climatically upset-for the past week it hasn't been easy for me.It's a critical period for me to live/struggle between 2 emotions(yet to say,of course is a SAD and HAPPY one) I wouldnt want to further extract my words on the matter, one of these day(soon),you guys will find out! For this time to claim everyone came, too, unbidden. I didnt reveal anything till much later.Suffering thru hellish grief,i was simply staggered by gratitude.
lers-movie of the week: AUGUST RUSH-The casting was terrific. Cinematography was fluid and lyrical. The plot line while essentially predictable was still highly fullfilling on many levels. I knew nothing about this film prior to watching it and from the first scene when the boy is showing his exceptional ability to hear the music of nature around him and how the director protrayed this visually I became instantly interested in this talented movie-makers's journey I was about to take.I strongly recommend this movie for the whole family.
lers-record of the week: COLBIE CAILLAT-COCO: colbie breezes into the room with her airy charm and i'm capitvated. This singer/songwriter checks her angst at the door as she flutters around sweeter territories. But make no mistake of dismissing this songstress as being candy floss because she has assembled a crisp and catchy set on COCO. Having a father who produced Fleetwood Mac records would go some way into instilling some roots in her,and that's exactly what she displays in abundance here.Is she the new Norah Jones? Perhaps, but definitely a lot less lazy-sounding.
lers all time classic: EASON CHAN-ADMIT IT: The world of Eason chan, arguably Hongkong's most versatile vocalist,is a surprisingly mellow and human one.Unlike glam-whore Nicholas Tse,Eason's rock star attitude is only in the hair. His bad boy antics are kept firmly to the stage, thank you.Maybe it's his dad's recent incarceration,or the relaxant of fatherhood, but this album speaks heartfelt volumes.Even though eight tracks here are translated from cantonese,it's hard to ignore the sensitivity. The songs flit between easy pop-rock,jazzy ditties and delicate ballads. They're never laboured, and the lyrics ring with moving honesty.Once again, its the pretty, slower numbers that shine with vintage Eason touches. The best tracks here have to be 'long time no see',a quiet piano melody about a bittersweet meeting with an ex;and 'love is a book',an upbeat little jaunt about, well, love.Musically, its not breaking new ground, but fans wont need too big an adventure. It's not quite the obvious winner as 2005's U87 was,but it's definitely a grower.
lers craving of the week: LAKSA
'joe' baseball glove chair-Designed in 1970. Joe, an oversized baseball glove, is now being reissued in an indoor/outdoor polymer. Joe, in tobacco brown and monumental marble grey. Play ball!Sofa appropriate for in-/outdoor commercial and residential use. www.helleronline.com

Oval face: If your visage is long and lean, opt for frames that accentuate its width. Heavy plastic wraparounds and sunglasses with oversize, geometric lenses are on the list of styles that balance oblong features nicely. To be avoided at all costs: delicate, John Lennon–style frames.
Thks to tanya chua, who actually holding a concert in HK when i'm watching 10,000BC. I'm glad that i was invited for the show, well supposingly i should thks my friend, jonathan, without his departing to HK to interview tanya's gracefully well commented solo concert,i think i would have to crash my wallet for this movie
STEVEN STRAIT,21. The tortured leader of the super-powered boyband-like good guys in THE COVENANT and the aspiring emo-rock musician who didnt take his shirt off enough in UNDISCOVERED.Oh,and he was also in SKY HIGH.
CAMILLA BELLE,21. If you're a fan of the indie film scene(like me),you may have spottted her in THE BALLAD OF JACK AND ROSE and THE CHUMSCRUBBER.She was most recently seen screaming her lungs out in horror flick,WHEN A STRANGER CALLS.
A lot of celebrities appeared for this gala premiere, and honourably i was invited by CROCODILE to attend this function. There was special appearances by the lead actor EKIN CHENG,SHAWN YUE,co-actress FIONA XIE and director KELVIN TONG(though i never see them)
ler's mood for the week: swinging. I'm happy to see the guys again, its been awhile since we last gather up. From the top left: LOUIS-hey hey happy to see the pounds-off-you,work harder ok and we shall meet up for movie again. 1st row left: SHAWN-havent change much;still mouth full of &$+&%^*% but to my surprise he's actually looking for a non-fiction book to read, yes is a written book not english book=pornography, too bad u forgotten the title. 1st row right: ANDY-he seldom wear red or should i say it's my first time seeing him in red haha well credit should goes to me,beside the adidas cap he's wearing, the remaining outfits and accessories was indeed chosen by me,i'm his official fashion advisor
lers-movie of the week: i hasnt got time to catch a nice show this week so i shall recommend an upcoming movie instead;one that looks nice(hopefully) by judging from it poster/trailers
lers-record of the week:Jack Johnson-sleep through the static: who knew the guy who once formed a punk band called Limber Chicken would be one of the hippest singers on the surfing scene? Recorded in his eco-friendly,solar-powered studio, johnson's fifth album features more electric guitar sounds. The hawaiian singer/songwriter again chants his feel-good mantras about the environment, and teams up with JP Plunier(who's responsible for 2001's Brushfire Fairytales)
lers all time classic:Fish leong-kissing the future of love: Jay Chou,Mayday,Cheer Chen,Tanya,Sandee Chen...with a roster of contributors that reads like the who's who of mandopop,Fish eighth album sounds mighty impressive even before i play it.Thankfully,it more than measures up to expectations.Thoughtful, whimsical, quirky and romantic,Fish's love songs are balm for the bruised soul.My pick's 'petty',a playful, jazzy duet with Cheer about 2 girls who love the same guy, secretly wishing that the other would give him up.Cheer's sweet, slightly husky voice blends so deliciously with Fish's deeper pipes against the sexy saxophone-clarinet arrangement that i wish that the 2 had got together earlier. 'Cola ring' brings back memories of being young, foolish and painfully innocent;Mayday singer-songwriter Ashin's awshucks lyrics about a pull-tab engagement ring and a promise of eternal love scribbled on a sweet wrapper are particularly endearing.'Amnesia' is surprising in that it doesnt sound at all like Jay's work---it's a sedate little tearjerker that's actually quite good.'Too blur' is another pleasant surprise for Fish's attempt at singing in the taiwanese dialect, something she pulls off quite remarkably.Musically, this isnt an adventurous album.Emotionally,it continues to strike new chords in me---not an easy feat, considering this is her eighth album.
lers craving of the week: a nice pot of homemade mushroom soup
lers dream-house:The primary colours and unconventional shapes of these flats made me smile but though they may be adorable, these arent merely renderings or styled for the sake of style. These are the 'reversible destiny lofts-mitaka(in memory of Helen Keller)',they're real and have a dead serious objective behind their cheery facade....Each flat is priced roughly at US$750,000.
